IMPORTANT INFORMATION
A company must keep MTD accounts (digital record keeping) if its turnover exceeds the HMRC threshold.
Sole traders and landlords: threshold is £50,000 for the 2024/25 tax year, applied to the 2024/25 Self Assessment.
Future thresholds:
Turnover over £30,000 → mandatory from April 2027
Turnover over £20,000 → mandatory from April 2028
VAT-registered businesses (with taxable turnover above £90,000 threshold) are required to keep digital records and submit VAT returns using MTD-compatible software.
From April 2027, all companies must submit annual accounts digitally to Companies House, following the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.
